Katherine Lee, DNP, RN, CPHRM, CMPE is a patient safety, compliance, and clinical risk consultant. Dr. Lee has over 20 years of experience in nursing and administration within private oral and maxillofacial surgery practices. She specializes in risk management and ensuring patient safety during anesthesia administration in office settings. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Belmont University, a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Quality, Safety, and Risk Management from Drexel University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University. The Tennessee Board of Dentistry approved her as a dental facility inspector for practices that administer sedation.
She is a Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management and is board certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Dr. Lee has actively participated in the development of several practice guideline publications, including moderate sedation, surgical site infections, and handoff communication, through her involvement with the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. Her extensive experience in office-based anesthesia has provided her multiple opportunities to participate in roundtable discussions with medical and nursing professional groups regarding the safety of sedation in the dental office.
