In the internet age, one might think that Facebook ads, Yelp!, Google or some other new marketing tactic would overtake word-of-mouth as the leading contributor to the new patient pipeline. However, those tactics haven’t replaced word of mouth. Instead, they make word-of-mouth even more important. Today, word-of-mouth includes what people say online in the form of online reviews. Online reviews are now one of the biggest ranking factors in a local search and in whether people referred to a practice ultimately schedule an appointment. If people are referred to an OMS, they perform an online search before scheduling an appointment. If they don’t see recent and relevant positive reviews when they search, they’ll ask another friend for a recommendation. And it’s important to be on the first page of search results or the Google Map Pack when patients search for doctors near them. In this symposium, Dr. Tau will share a simple plan to achieve both of these important results: earning a steady flow of online reviews and converting those reviews into a steady stream of new patients for a practice.
