Condylar trauma continues to be one of the most difficult facial fractures to manage. Historically, closed reduction is the most common treatment modality; however, literature also presents mixed long-term results with this type of treatment. This session will present a predictable single-surgery, open approach. The temporomandibular joint replacement system can effectively treat condylar fractures requiring open treatment predictably and efficiently.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Assess and quickly formulate a plan for traumas that involve the temporomandibular joint.
Discuss the treatment options for intracapsular condylar head fractures.
Describe the clinical use of the temporomandibular stock joint.
