Dr. Hakim is a clinical assistant professor, a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a TMJ arthroscopist at the University of Michigan, where he is also the associate director of the comprehensive TMJ surgery fellowship program. He earned his DDS from New York University College of Dentistry then completed his OMS residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Afterwards he completed a two-year fellowship program in endoscopic maxillofacial surgery and advanced TMJ arthroscopy at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he was also appointed as a faculty instructor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with residents teaching role. Lastly, he earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. His clinical interests include TMJ and jaw surgery, and his personal interests include gaps in business education among oral and maxillofacial surgery residents. He regularly lectures and teaches courses nationally on minimally invasive TMJ surgery, and decided to leverage his MBA education to open new opportunities in oral and maxillofacial surgery education.
