Marcus Couey, DDS, MD is Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston University. He earned his DDS from Columbia University and his MD from the University of Texas, Houston. Following OMS residency at UT Houston, he completed a research fellowship in Immuno-Oncology at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in Portland, OR, where he focused on the development of immuno-oncology clinical trials, immunotherapy toxicity and biomarkers for response to immunotherapy. He went on to complete fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction at Providence Cancer Institute in Portland, OR.
Dr. Couey's clinical practice is focused on the management of pathologies involving the mouth, throat, salivary glands and jaws, facial trauma surgery, nerve repair and microvascular reconstruction. He is active in oncology research, and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters and abstracts. His research interests are centered on treatment strategies that incorporate immunotherapy to improve outcomes for patients with head and neck cancer.
