Dr. Cil was born in Turkey, and after completing his medical school and orthopedic residency
training, he emigrated to Unites States to have subspecialty education in orthopedics. He
completed his Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship training at Mayo Clinic and completed an
Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Harvard University. He joined University Health
System and University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2008. He served as the Vice Chair of
Department of Orthopaedics from 2012 to 2020 and then became the Rex L. Diveley Endowed
Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at UMKC.
He also serves as the Chair of the Board of University Health Physicians, and as a board
member of the University Health System.
Nationally, he serves as a member of the Board of Councilors of American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons, has multiple committee roles for American Shoulder and Elbow Society,
and serves as a board member of Missouri State Orthopedic Association. He also works as
consultant and implant design team member for Stryker Inc and helps design shoulder
replacement products.
Dr. Cil believes Academic Medicine for All through providing accessible, state-of-the-art quality
musculoskeletal care to his community regardless of the ability to pay.
Dr. Cil likes reading, road and mountain biking and hiking activities with his two dogs on his
spare time.
