This session will bring together thought leaders regarding the history, presentation, pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). AAOMS’s MRONJ work group will provide its knowledge and experience regarding this enigmatic disease that traverses the practice of medicine and dentistry. New observations of MRONJ occurring in children will be discussed. Case presentations will conclude the program with treatment recommendations from panel members.

Discuss the clinical and radiologic appearance of MRONJ, including its differential diagnosis.
Review the indications for bisphosphonate and RANKL inhibitor therapy and the controversies associated with their administration.
Review the treatment strategies of MRONJ, including the role of conservative therapy and the role of surgical therapy.
